About Golden Fish & Seafood

Located at 51 N 12th St, Philadelphia, PA 19107, Golden Fish & Seafood operates as a seafood market serving Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. Typical hours are 8 AM–6 PM. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Golden Fish & Seafood at (215) 923-2252; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, readingterminalmarket.org.

Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Philadelphia peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I stop coming to them because they don't know how to clean fish, my husband went on 10/ 21/ 25 to get fish and this is what he came home with, I told him he went to the wrong one.

Purchased a 2lb bag of mussels from them. Went straight home with the mussels on ice (~25 minutes). Put them directly in the fridge. When I went to cook them a few hours later, they were all open and did not close or react to tapping or forcing them shut. They were dead and had a fishy smell. I see this has happened to other people, which is crazy because all this place does IS sell seafood. If you're a fishmonger who can't keep fish fresh you should probably find a different line of work. This has never happened when I've purchased mussels anywhere else (like whole foods...and I hate whole foods)

My spouse and I were in town to visit family for their annual summer picnic. Somehow we were given the task of picking up fish for the fish fry as the original "caterers" bowed out. We had breakfast in the Reading Terminal Market and found the Golden Fish Market stand. They specialize in everything seafood, expertly showcased in several display refrigerators. Whiting - $4.98/lb. Because we bought in bulk, we were given a discount. They even cleaned the cooler of fish within 15 short minutes! When I returned to pick them up, they had it neatly packed in a flat styrofoam box and topped with bags of ice. SERVICE: You'd expect the staff to be curt and rude but they were the complete opposite. Everyone was friendly, professional and extremely patient (especially with the numerous phone calls we did while trying to decide on how much to buy). OVERALL: Seafood fanatics, rejoice!

I had gone to Golden Fish Market for many years as a local of town. My last visit the fish & seafood were not very fresh. Moreover, the woman who helped me, (I had not been helped by before). While, I saw Fresh Tuna $15.00 a pound and asked this women about Sushi-grade Tuna, a half a pound. She asked about the price, it seemed she "made-it-up" and blurted out $30.00 a pound for a frozen block. I received a 1bl and stated I asked for a block, she said I told you it is a pound and would not take it back (it was in a plastic-frozen and sealed bag.. Moreover, the Frozen-Sushi Grade Tuna Block was tasteless. There is nothing at this kiosk for $30.00 a pound. Disappointing.

When I walked in to Reading market, there were so many choices and I wasn’t sure what to get. I walked by this fresh seafood stand with these enormous prawns!! The worker agreed to cook the prawns for me and to steam clams I purchased as well. It was the best meal I have ever had! She use the right amount of butter and seasoning and she made these enormous prawns that looked like the size of lobster. Thank you so much, I enjoyed my trip to Philadelphia because of this seafood market:)
